Introduction

  • Wallasey Road is in Liscard.
    This guide covers the main shopping area of Wallasey Road, Liscard Way Shopping Centre and up to Manor Road.
    The route is approximately 0.8 miles (1287 metres) long and takes approximately 15 - 20 minutes to walk.
    The route from Belvidere Road to Manor Road is flat with a slight downhill slope from Manor Road to the junction of Liscard Crescent.
    Pathway surfaces are tarmac, concrete paving slabs and block paving.
    The pathways have some uneven sections, which include some raised manhole covers.
    The road surfaces are tarmac, with dropped kerbs and tactile paving at most crossing points.
    This guide runs from the junction of Belvidere Road, Wallasey Road and Torrington Road at the west end and the junction of Manor Road, Liscard Village at the east end. There are opportunities to sit and rest.

  • The A59 Kingsway is approximately 1.5 miles away with direct links to Liverpool and the M53.
  • *Parking*
  • There are Blue Badge and standard on-street parking bays in Wallasey Road and surrounding side roads such as Seaview Road, long with some nearby public car parks.
  • *By Bus*
  • There are several bus stops along the route with direct services to Liverpool, Birkenhead Central Station, Liscard, New Brighton, Seacombe and some local services.

  • Wallasey Village Station is located on Leasowe Road (A551), approximately 2.6 miles from the area.
  • There are direct train services available to Liverpool Central, Wallasey Village and Birkenhead.

Parking

  • *On Street Parking*
  • There are Blue Badge and standard on street parking bays in Wallasey Road and surrounding side roads such as Seaview Road.
  • There is no charge for these parking bays.
  • Parking is limited to 60 minutes for non-Blue Badge holders depending on the parking area.
  • Blue Badge holders may park in any of the bays for a maximum of 2 hours.

  • *Public Car Parks*
  • There is a pay and display car park at the junction of Liscard Village and Manor Road, opposite the Royal Oak Public House and the Trio Sandwich Bar (photographs 6 - 12).
  • The Cherry Tree Shopping Centre Car Park is off St. Alban's Road.

Junction Belvedere Road - Wallasey Road - Torrington Road

  • There are several crossings at this junction to cross Belvedere Road, Wallasey Road and Torrington Road.
  • These are pedestrian crossings that have dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • The pedestrian crossings are push button controlled with visual signals.
  • The surface of the roads is tarmac.
  • The surface of the pathways is tarmac and concrete paving.
  • There is a bus stop at the junction of Wallasey Road and Torrington Road.

Wallasey Road to Newton Road

  • The pathways on both sides of the road in this section are formed of tarmac, concrete paving and block paving.
  • The pathways on both sides are wide.
  • There are some uneven areas on the pathways throughout this section.
  • There are some obstructions along the pavement on both sides such as signs, railings, cycle racks, bus stops, bins, bollards and signboards.
  • The bus stops are located outside of The Stage (dance studio).
  • There is on street parking on both sides of the road. Parking is restricted Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, with no return within 1 hour. There are no restrictions from 5pm through to 9am.

Junction - Newton Road - St. Alban's Road - Wallasey Road

  • There are several crossings at this junction to cross Newton Road, St. Alban's Road and Wallasey Road.
  • These are pedestrian crossings that have dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • The pedestrian crossings are push button controlled with visual signals.
  • The surface of the roads is tarmac.
  • The surface of the pathways is tarmac and concrete paving.

St. Alban's Road to Liscard Way via Wallasey Road

  • The pathways on both sides of the road in this section are formed of tarmac, concrete paving and block paving.
  • The pathways on both sides are wide.
  • There are some uneven areas on the pathways throughout this section.
  • There are some obstructions along the pavement on both sides such as signs, railings, cycle racks, bus stops, bins, bollards and signboards.
  • The bus stops are located outside Halifax Building Society and the Yorkshire Building Society opposite Subway.
  • There is on street parking on both sides of the road. Parking is restricted Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, with no return within 1 hour. There are no restrictions from 5pm through to 9am.

Liscard Way Shopping Centre

  • At the junction of Wallasey Road, Seaview Road and Liscard Village is the start of the shopping centre leading onto Mill Lane.
  • The walkway surface is concrete and block paving.
  • There are several seating areas and signposts along the walkway.
  • There are some obstructions along the walkway such as signs, bins, trees, seating, signposts and cycle racks.

Junction - Liscard Way - Liscard Crescent via Liscard Village

  • There are several crossings at this junction to cross Liscard Village and Liscard Crescent.
  • These are pedestrian crossings that have dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • The pedestrian crossings are push button controlled with visual signals.
  • The surface of the roads is tarmac.
  • The surface of the pathways is tarmac and concrete paving.

Liscard Crescent - Manor Road via Liscard Village

  • There are several crossings at this junction to cross Liscard Village and Liscard Crescent.
  • The pedestrian crossings are located outside of Tesco Express and Binghams Solicitors.
  • The crossings have dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • The pedestrian crossings are push button controlled with visual signals.
  • The surface of the roads is tarmac.
  • The surface of the pathways is tarmac and concrete paving.
  • There is seating outside Tesco.
  • There are some obstructions along the pavement on both sides such as trees, signposts, railings, bus stops, bins and signboards.
