• Grange Road West is a major road leading into Birkenhead Town Centre.
• Grange Road West has a footpath to either side of the road along the shop fronts.
• Traffic along Grange Road West travels in both directions.
• The pathways are tarmac surfaced and measure over 2m wide.
• Fronting the pathway is an edged kerb, 14cm deep at the road side.
• There are no pedestrian crossings along Grange Road West.
• Grange Road West leads down to the junction at Charing Cross which gives access to Grange Road and Pyramids Shopping Centre.
• Grange Road West is approximately 1200m in length.
• Grange Road is a pedestrianised street with a mixture of block paving and tarmac surfaces along the shop fronts.

• On foot, proceed along Grange Road West towards Grange Road and the Charing Cross junction.
• At the junction of Grange Road West and Westbourne Road there is a dropped kerb either side of the road with tactile paving.
• To the centre of the junction is a central reservation with a dropped kerb and tactile paving.
• Traffic approaching the junction comes from both directions.
• Proceed along Grange Road West on the footpath you approached the Barton Street junction from.
• At the junction there are dropped kerbs with tactile paving either side of the road.

Barton Street Junction - Clayton Street Junction

• As you procced along Grange Road West from the Barton Street junction towards Charing Cross junction, you will approach the Clayton Street junction.
• The Clayton Street junction is used by vehicles to enter and exit the Barton Street public car park.
• At Clayton Street there is a dropped kerb to either side of the road that does not have tactile paving.
• The pathway has a slight slope towards the kerb edge.
• Travel about 230m further along the footpath and you approach the junction at Charing Cross.

• The Charing Cross junction gives access to Grange Road.

Charing Cross

• The Charing Cross junction has a pedestrian and traffic management system at the crossing.
• There are dropped kerb with tactile paving either side of the road with a central reservation.
• The central reservation has dropped kerbs with tactile paving.
• At the crossing, the pedestrian controls have audible tones with rotating cones to the underside.
• The crossing gives access from Grange Road West to Grange Road.

Grange Road

• At the junction of Charing Cross, the entrance to Grange Road is opposite MacDonald's.
• Grange Road becomes a pedestrian area at 10:30.
• Grange Road is approximately 15m wide with shop fronts either side.
• The pathways along Grange Road are a mixture of tarmac, block paving and flag stones.
• The pathway has a slight slope to either side, falling to the centre.
• Along the pathway there is bench seating for places to rest.
• Grange Road is approximately 600m in length.
• As you proceed along Grange Road you pass the Asda superstore entrance.
• To the side of the store is Catherine Street /Oliver Street where there is a taxi rank and drop off point, shown in photographs 6, 7 and 8.
• Further along Grange Road you pass the entrance into the Pyramids Shopping Centre's indoor area.
• At the end of Grange Road you approach St Johns Street, where you enter the Pyramid Shopping Centre's outdoor area.

St Johns Street - Pyramids Shopping Area

• At the end of Grange Road you approach the entrance to the Pyramids Shopping Centre's outdoor area.
• At the entrance to the shopping area there are bollards with a width of 128cm.
• The pathway beyond is a mixture of block paving and flag stones.
• This area has restricted vehicle access and becomes pedestrianised only.
