Barton Street Junction - Clayton Street Junction

  • As you procced along Grange Road West from the Barton Street junction towards Charing Cross junction, you will approach the Clayton Street junction.
  • The Clayton Street junction is used by vehicles to enter and exit the Barton Street public car park.

Charing Cross

  • The central reservation has dropped kerbs with tactile paving.
  • At the crossing, the pedestrian controls have audible tones with rotating cones to the underside.
  • The crossing gives access from Grange Road West to Grange Road.

Grange Road

  • At the junction of Charing Cross, the entrance to Grange Road is opposite MacDonald's.
  • Grange Road becomes a pedestrian area at 10:30.
  • Grange Road is approximately 15m wide with shop fronts either side.

  • To the side of the store is Catherine Street /Oliver Street where there is a taxi rank and drop off point, shown in photographs 6, 7 and 8.
  • Further along Grange Road you pass the entrance into the Pyramids Shopping Centre's indoor area.
  • At the end of Grange Road you approach St Johns Street, where you enter the Pyramid Shopping Centre's outdoor area.

  • At the end of Grange Road you approach the entrance to the Pyramids Shopping Centre's outdoor area.
  • At the entrance to the shopping area there are bollards with a width of 128cm.
  • The pathway beyond is a mixture of block paving and flag stones.
  • This area has restricted vehicle access and becomes pedestrianised only.

Toilets

  • There are toilets for public use within the Pyramids Shopping Centre, the Asda superstore, and outside of Birkenhead Market.
