Introduction

Gallions Reach DLR Station Platform 1 - East Bound

  • There is tactile paving at the edge of the platform.
  • The platform has a large slab block paving surface, and there is an easy slope leading towards the rear.
  • These details are exactly the same for Platform 2 (West Bound).

Lift (Platform 1 - East Bound)

  • There is a lift for public use.
  • The lift is located at the rear of the platform as you exit the train.

  • The floors which are accessible by this lift are street level - platform level.
  • The weight limit for the lift is 630kg.
  • Staff do not need to be notified for use of the lift.
  • The clear door width is 80cm (2ft 7in).
  • The dimensions of the lift are 103cm x 130cm (3ft 5in x 4ft 3in).
  • There are not separate entry and exit doors in the lift.
  • There is not a mirror to aid reversing out of the lift.
  • The lift does have a visual floor indicator.
  • The lift does have an audible announcer.

  • The controls for the lift are within 90cm - 120cm from the floor.

Other Floors (Platform 1 - East Bound)

Station Concourse

  • This area, underneath the platforms, has a brick block paving surface with easy slopes leading to Atlantis Avenue in front of the station.
  • There are ticket machines located here, plus Oyster touch pads at the bottom of both sets of stairs to the platforms.

Cross Atlantis Avenue using Traffic Lights

  • There are tactile dropped kerbs on either side of the road with a central island in the middle which is level with the road.
  • There are rotating cones available.
  • The controls are at a height of 102cm.

Atlantis Avenue to Gallion's Roundabout

  • Turn right and on crossing the road and head along Atlantis Avenue after approximately 45m you will reach Gallion's Roundabout.
  • This path has a brick block paving then tarmac surface.
  • It has easy and slight slopes and is uneven in places.
  • There are sections of tactile paving and drop kerbs for crossing.

Gallion's Roundabout to Woolwich Manor Way Crossing

  • Follow the pavement for approximately 90m to reach the traffic lights and pedestrian crossing across Woolwich Manor Way Crossing.
  • There is a tarmac surface to the pavement which is uneven in places and has the occasional manhole cover. This path is also used by cyclists.
  • On the far side of the road there is a slight slope.

Woolwich Manor Way Crossing

  • There is tactile paving on either side of the crossing.
  • There is a pelican crossing here.
  • The buttons are 101cm high.
  • There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides.
  • The road has a tarmac surface with a moderate slope up.
  • The central reservation has a tarmac surface with steep slopes going up and then down.

Path along Gallions Roundabout South Side

  • This path has a tarmac surface, with moderate slopes up and uneven in places.
  • After approximately 40m it then becomes a brick block paving path with a moderate slope up.

University Way Crossing

  • The pelican crossing has a central reservation.
  • The buttons are 101cm high.
  • There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides.
  • The road has a tarmac surface with an easy slope down.
  • After crossing the road turn left and cross the road to reach the campus entrance.
  • The central reservation has a block paving surface with a slight slope, uneven in places.
  • There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving both sides.
  • The road has a tarmac surface with an easy slope.

Pedestrian Entrance to the SportsDock Car Park

  • The path here has a brick block paving surface, with a slight slope leading up to the gate into the car park, which is 213cm wide.
  • Beyond the gate the path has a slight slope leading down.

Path beside the Car Park

  • At the bottom of the path leading from the gate, turn right and follow this path along the car park.
  • This path has a moderate slope leading up, and has a brick block paving surface, except for the tactile paving at the dropped kerbs either side of the 2 access roads to parking areas.

Crossing the Car Park Road to the Entrance

  • There is a dropped kerb with tactile paving leading down to the road, which has a brick block paving surface and a moderate slope.
  • There is a drain directly in front of the dropped kerb to be aware of.
  • There is a dropped kerb, with tactile paving, on the far side of the road.

Path to the SportsDock Main Entrance

  • This path leads around the front of the SportsDock to the main entrance.
  • It has a brick block paving surface with a moderate slope.
  • It is 170cm at its narrowest point.
