Route Summary
- The following information describes the route from Stevenage Train Station to the Town Square Fountain and Clock Tower.
- The approximate distance of this route is 370m.

Stevenage Train Station
Train Station to Ramp and Stairs
- After exiting the train station, follow the path for approximately 100m across the bridge (above the A602 Lytton Way) to the ramp and steps leading to the street level.
- There is step free access across the bridge.
- The bridge is divided into two parts: unsheltered, followed by sheltered.
- The surface of the bridge is tarmac.
- Along the unsheltered bridge there are handrails on both sides.
- There is a gap on the left handrail due to a set of stairs that lead down to the A602 Lytton Way.
- Along the unsheltered bridge there is clear directional signage.
- The second half of the bridge is sheltered.
- The sheltered bridge has UV lighting.
- There is a small lip as you enter the sheltered bridge.
- There is information and are photos of famous people from Stevenage on the walls here.
- There are handrails on both sides of the sheltered bridge at intermittent stages.
- At the end of the sheltered bridge, there is a slight slope that leads to the ramp and stairs landing.
- Along the sheltered part of the bridge there is a lift in the Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre, which can be used with the permission of the venue to overcome the ramp and steps.
Train Station Bridge Ramp and Stairs
- There is a small lip on approach to the ramp and stairs landing.
- The stairs are located immediately on the right as you exit the sheltered part of the bridge.

Bottom of the Ramp to Crossing
- At the bottom of the ramp follow the path for approximately 170m until you reach the Town Square Fountain and Clock Tower.
- There is step free access along the route.
- The surface of the flooring is concrete tiles and brick paving.
- There is bench seating available.
- There is clear directional signage along the route and an information post including a map of the Town Centre.
- After approximately 30m the path crosses a minor access road.
Crossing

Crossing to Town Square Fountain and Clock Tower
- You can either follow the path on the left side of the open tarmac area or you can continue by going directly across.
- The tarmac is on a slight slope at the beginning.
- Proceed to the very end of this tarmac area and then you will come to the top of a steep slope.
- The left-hand side of this slope is sheltered.
- Continue down the slope, then at the bottom of the slope the Fountain and Clock Tower is directly ahead of you.
Town Square Fountain and Clock Tower
- The surface of the pathways here are a mixture of block paving and paving slabs.
- There are public standard female and male toilets as well as an accessible toilet and a parent and baby room beside the clock tower.
- Potential hazards in this area include cycle racks, food stalls, a flower market, lampposts, trees and planters.
- There are also several maps of the surrounding area available.
- There is ample benched seating areas throughout the Town Square Fountain and Clock Tower area, some with back support and others without.
