Main Gate

  • The pedestrian access gate is 127cm wide.
  • The pedestrian access gate opens away from you.
  • The pedestrian access gate is permanently held open.
  • There is an easy slope leading through the gate on to the main gate path.

Main Gate Path To Orchard Way

  • The surface of the main path is tarmac.
  • Cross the service road and continue ahead.
  • There are dropped kerbs on either side of the road without tactile paving.
  • Turn right at the end of the path on to Orchard Way.
  • Alexandra House is located on the main gate path, approximately 50m from the main gate.

Orchard Way

  • Continue ahead on Orchard Way.
  • The surface of the path is block paving and uneven in places.
  • There are no dropped kerbs when crossing the access road to the main car park.
  • The kerb is of medium height.
  • The only non stepped route along Orchard Way is to use the dropped kerb from the end of the main path and continue along the road.
  • This is shown in photograph 6.
  • The road is generally quiet.
  • The crossing onto River Way has dropped kerbs with tactile paving on each side of the road.

River Way

  • The surface of the path is tarmac at the beginning with block paving around the steps leading to River House.
  • There are slopes on the path leading to the steps, these vary between easy and moderate.
  • There are 6 steps of medium height leading to the crossing to River House.
  • They are well marked with handrails on both sides.
  • Tactile paving is located at both the top and bottom of the steps.
  • The crossing to River House has dropped kerbs with tactile paving on each side of the road.
  • The only non stepped route along River Way is to use the dropped kerb from the Orchard Way crossing and continue along the road.
  • The path can be rejoined at the side of River House.
  • A strip of tactile paving is located on the path.
  • The route takes you across the designated bays at the rear of River House and on to a block paved path on an easy slope.
  • Cross River Way using the dropped kerbs located on the pathway and in front of Chelsham House.
  • There is no tactile paving.
  • The surface of the path is tarmac.
  • The path turns to the right on to Forest Drive.
  • The road is generally quiet.

Forest Drive

  • The surface of the path is tarmac.
  • The path is on an easy slope leading down to Gresham Way.
  • The path narrows in places to a minimum of 76cm.
  • At the end of Forest Drive cross Gresham Way on to Witley Way.
  • There is a dropped kerb without tactile paving.
  • Turning left as you cross the road here takes you on the alternative access path to Witley House.

Alternative Access To Witley House

  • This path gives access from the junction of Forest Drive and Gresham Way to Witley House without using the Witley Way Road which has sections with no paths.
  • There is a dropped kerb without tactile paving to access the path.
  • The surface of the path is tarmac that is uneven in places.
  • There easy slopes at various points along the pathway.

Witley Way

  • The first section of Witley Way has no paths and the road must be used.
  • The surface of the road is tarmac, it is uneven in places and has a moderately sloped speed ramp.
  • The road is on a moderate slope leading to Witley House.
  • Approximately 50m along Witley Way a path starts on the right hand side of the road.
  • There is a moderate slope made up of compacted earth leading up to the path.
  • The surface of the path is tarmac.
  • The path is on a moderate slope leading to Witley House.
  • There is no dropped kerb at the end of the path.
  • There is 1 medium step down into the Witley House car park.
  • The information is the same when going back toward Gresham Way.
  • Cross Gresham Way and turn left toward Orchard Way.
  • Witley House is located at the end of Witley Way.

Gresham Way

  • The surface of the path is tarmac.
  • The path is on a moderate slope leading toward Orchard Way.
  • Cross the Service Road.
  • There are dropped kerbs on each side without tactile paving.
  • The surface of the path is now block paving.
  • At the end of the path turn left and cross the road on to Orchard Way.
  • The crossing has dropped kerbs on each side without tactile paving.

Orchard Way

  • The surface of the path is block paving before becoming tarmac.
  • The tarmac section of the path is uneven.
  • There are slopes on the path, these vary between easy and moderate.
  • The information is the same when going back toward the main path.
  • Photograph 3 shows the dropped kerb for non stepped access to Tyson house.
  • The route is then along the road.
  • Turn left at the end of the path for access to Bishopsgate.
  • Photograph 4 shows the path leading to the Bishopsgate entrance.
  • The path becomes narrow at times.
  • Recross the junction with Gresham Way and continue to the marked crossing on Orchard Way.
  • The crossing has dropped kerbs at each side without tactile paving.
  • After crossing turn left on to the main path.
