Thurrock Council has worked with DisabledGo and Thurrock Coalition to prepare this guide, which has been designed to enable people with disabilities who live, work or visit the borough to view information about the access available to many of the buildings and services provided in the borough.
The guide contains a broad list of venues including shops, transport, entertainment, leisure facilities, culture and public services in Thurrock that can be checked for access to wheelchair users and for people with physical, learning disability or sensory access concerns. The information shown has been collected in person by a team of trained surveyors although we are keen to continue to identify locations to be added to this guide and note where changes may have arisen since entries were last updated.
Thurrock Council is committed to working with communities to oppose all forms of prejudice and discrimination, provide equal access to jobs at all levels of the council, make sure our employment policies and practices do not discriminate, promote diversity, tolerance and fairness and prevent harassment and victimisation of residents, service users and employees. We are proud users of the Disability Symbol evidencing our commitment to employment, retention, training and development of disabled staff.
We hope that you find the information contained in this guide valuable and welcome your feedback.
