Foreword from Leader of the City of Inverness, Councillor Helen Carmichael:

The Highland Council is committed to ensuring that everyone can feel part of the Highland community, and to removing barriers that limit people's participation in every-day life.

The Council has worked in partnership with DisabledGo, the Inverness Access Panel, and local businesses to develop a new access guide to the City of Inverness and its surrounding area. The guide features detailed accessibility information across Aird and Loch Ness, Inverness West, Inverness Central, Inverness Ness-side, Inverness Millburn, Culloden and Ardersier and Inverness South.

Residents and visitors to the area will find the online guide easy to use with information on a range range of accessibility features from parking to accessible toilets. It covers facilities such as leisure centres, shops, restaurants, cinemas, hotels, tourist attractions and many more venues.

The guide will give disabled people, their families and carers the opportunity to make informed choices about where to visit and how to spend their time in Inverness and the surrounding area.

This project has been supported by the Inverness Common Good Fund.

Inverness Access Panel:

"We are pleased to see the development of the first comprehensive access guide for the Inverness area. This will make a real difference for disabled people living in Inverness and to visitors from across the Highlands and beyond. It means people can plan where to go and be informed about the levels of access to venues across the City."

DisabledGo is an award-winning disability organisation that has been in operation since 2000 and produces online access guides in a great deal of detail to a huge range of venues.
