Stockport stretches from the borders of the Peak District National Park to cosmopolitan Manchester and is a friendly and fascinating place to live. With a population of almost 300,000 and home to an estimated 16,000 businesses, it is aspirational, accessible, diverse and welcoming.

The Council's mission is to achieve a 'cleaner, greener, safer, stronger’ Stockport and we are delighted to be sponsoring this new web directory in partnership with Marks and Spencer. We have worked closely with our local partners to help improve the quality of disabled people's lives by improving physical access around the Borough. With over 40,000 residents with disabilities, we are committed to continually improving services and to making them more accessible for everyone.

The DisabledGo website provides valuable access information and it will enable people with disabilities who come to Stockport - either to visit, for work or as tourists - to find comprehensive access information about all kinds of shops, pubs, restaurants, hotels, museums, cinemas, services and more. The website also helps to raise awareness of what is currently accessible and so encourages other to make the changes needed to improve accessibility.

The Council launched the Community Toilet Scheme with several local businesses and is working with other businesses to increase membership of the scheme. This scheme is being run in addition to other Council owned public toilets, for a full list of locations please click here:
