Rushmoor Borough Council
Welcome to Rushmoor!
The borough of Rushmoor sits at the heart of the Blackwater Valley in north-east Hampshire.
It includes the Victorian town of Aldershot - famous for being the home of the British Army – and Farnborough, which has a worldwide reputation for its aviation and aeronautical heritage and is the home of the famous Farnborough International Airshow.
Both towns are within easy reach of London and our excellent transport links make it an easy destination to reach, whether you are travelling by road, train or bus. The borough covers an area of 3,900 hectares, which ranges from urban to open spaces and large wooded areas, so there is plenty to keep you occupied during your visit.
Our leisure facilities include a ski centre, sports centres, museums, parks, bowling alleys, nature reserves, historic sites and entertainment and arts venues.
Aldershot's town centre features fine examples of Victorian architecture combined with modern shops and Westgate, a £65 million pound development, which opened in 2012, bringing a new multiplex cinema, restaurants, a hotel and Morrisons' food store.
On the edge of town nearly 4,000 homes are being built as part of the huge Wellesley development.
Farnborough's town centre has three main shopping areas, Princes Mead and The Meads (both indoors) and Queensmead (open air). In May 2015, as part of improvement work to The Meads, a brand new Vue cinema opened and Prezzo became the first of several planned new family restaurants to open. There is also a newly developed area, which includes a large Sainsbury's store.
Rushmoor Borough Council serves the communities of Aldershot and Farnborough and we are very pleased to be working with DisabledGo to provide this important information to local people, their families and visitors to the area.
