East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) was established in 2003 and is a large integrated health care organisation providing acute secondary healthcare for the people of East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen.

We provide high quality healthcare services primarily to the residents of East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen, which have a combined population in the region of 530,000.

  • We employ over 7,000 staff, some of whom are internationally renowned and have won awards for their work and achievements.
  • We treat over six hundred thousand patients a year from the most serious of emergencies to planned operations and procedures.
  • We offer care across five hospital sites, and various community sites, using state-of-the-art facilities.

We provide a full range of acute hospital and adult community services. We are a specialist centre for hepatobiliary, head and neck and urological cancer services, in addition to providing specialist cardiology services and a network provider of Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care.
