Durham University is unique. We are the third oldest university in England and one of the world's leading centres of scholarship and learning. We seek to achieve the highest distinction in research and teaching and are committed to excellence in all aspects of education and transmission of knowledge.

Our students have access to teaching by world experts, award-winning study facilities, and extensive collections of books and learning resources. These are all accompanied by an unrivalled college system where students play a leadership role in shaping their communities, where they have the space and support to be who they want to be and the opportunity to get involved in a whole range of activities, clubs and societies.

Durham University is home to 15,000 students from over 130 countries creating a truly diverse student community. Students are based either in Durham City or at Queen's Campus, Stockton. Durham is a small, historic bustling Cathedral City with beautiful architecture while Queen's is a modern, purpose-built campus set on the river. Both locations are distinctive and outstanding in their own way and each offers easy access to University facilities and services including bars, caf├ęs, shops, sports facilities, libraries, and advice and welfare services.

Many of our buildings are modern and designed for accessibility but a small number of the colleges and department in Durham City are in very old, listed buildings where getting around isn't always straightforward. Also, due to the ancient medieval layout of the City, certain limitations can be encountered. However, we do our best to make reasonable adjustments where possible and advise on accessibility of buildings as necessary.
