About The Institute of Development Studies (IDS)

The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) is a world-leading research, learning and teaching institute. At IDS our aim is to transform knowledge, action and leadership for more equitable and sustainable development globally. Our research spans a range of sciences, disciplines and sectors. We also mobilise that knowledge by teaching a range of postgraduate Masters and PHD programmes.

We have operated from the IDS building on the University of Sussex campus for over 50 years. Our facilities include teaching, meeting and office spaces, in addition to a busy bar and restaurant on the lower ground floor.
