Getting To The Hospital

  • By Road View
    • Directions from the North: Leave the M6 at junction 27 (sign posted Wigan, Parbold, A5209). At roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A5209. At the T-junction turn right onto the A5209. At traffic signals turn right onto A49. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A49 and follow the A49 (Wigan Road) pass the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. Continue on through Wigan Centre and turn right onto the B5375 (Parsonage Way). The Thomas Linacre Centre is located 300 metres on the right. Directions from the South: Leave the M6 at junction 25, exit onto the A49 (Turn left at roundabout following the A49). At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto B5238/Poolstock Lane. Continue to follow the B5238. Cross the mini roundabout and turn left at the traffic lights following the B5238/Chapel Lane. Continue to follow Chapel Lane. Continue to follow A49 / River Way. Turn left at the traffic lights (the Mercure Oak Hotel will be on the right) onto Powell Street / Northway. Continue through into Wigan on the B5376 (Northway) and then turn right onto the B5375 (Parsonage Way). The Thomas Linacre Centre is located 300 metres on the right.
    • The car park is open air with tarmac surface. There are 7 Blue Badge Bays available. The payment machines accept cash only. Concessionary parking is available, restrictions apply. Up to 30 minutes drop off Free Up to 1 hour £1.70 Up to two hours £2.70 Between two and four hours £5.00 Over four hours £6.50 Please bring some change for the pay and display machines as they don't accept notes. Concessionary parking is available, restrictions apply.
  • By Bus View
    • There is a bus stop located on Parson's Walk for the 635 service. The bus stop is about 121ft from the entrance.
  • By Train View
    • The nearest train stations are Wigan Wallgate which is a 10 minute taxi ride from the hospital or Wigan North Western which is a 9 minute taxi ride from the hospital.

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is not a Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at the hospital.
  • Volunteers do not receive disability awareness / equality training.
  • There are volunteers available for help and assistance at the hospital.
  • Volunteers can be found at the Main Entrance Information Desk.
  • Hospital staff do receive disability awareness / equality training.
  • No hospital staff receive deaf awareness training.
  • Documents are available in an alternative format and can be provided to include: Braille on request, large print on request, different languages on request and audio on request.
  • There is not an assistance dog toilet or toileting area on the hospital site.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.

  • A mobility scooter charging point is not available at the hospital.
