Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • The venue is located before East Fortune on the B1347 road from the A1 to North Berwick.
      The B1347 road is located between Haddington and East Linton from the A1.
    • There is a car park from the shop leading up to the middle of the site with several designated parking areas around the site.
  • By Bus View
    • There is a bus stop within 150 metres of the venue.
    • The bus stop is served by bus 121.
      There is a bus drop off and pick up point within the grounds of the museum itself.
  • By Train View

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • There is not a member of staff trained in British Sign Language.
  • British Sign Language interpreters cannot be provided on request.
  • There is an assistance dog toilet or toileting area at the venue/nearby.
  • The assistance dog toilet or toileting area is located near the woods.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.
  • There are mobility aids available.
  • The mobility aids available include wheelchairs.
  • To obtain mobility aids please contact a member of staff.
  • Dog waste bags are available.

Ticket Booth

  • While online is the preferred method, tickets are available from the drive-thru style entry booth at the main gate to the airfield.
  • Tickets can also be purchased from the shop.
  • Concessions are available.

Parking Information

  • There are designated Blue Badge bays at the shop which serve the shop, Aviator Cafe, Concorde Experience, Picnic Area, Assault Course and BAC1-11 Plane.
  • They can also serve the Civil Aviation Hangar and Fortunes of War buildings although standard parking may be closer to these.
  • The Green Goddess and Matador display buildings are also close to standard bays here.
  • There are further designated bays at the Military Aviation Hangar which serve there and also the Green Goddess and Matador.
  • There are additional designated bays at the Comet plane which serve the Education Centre, Comet and Vulcan planes, Fantastic Flight and Parachute Store buildings.
  • The Airfield Explorer bus no longer runs, but Blue Badge holders may use their vehicles with care to move between buildings, using the designated Blue Badge bays, or standard bays where required. Please inform staff if this is required, and supply car registration details.

Bus Stop Shelter

  • The bus stop is located on the road opposite the Civil Aviation Hangar (Hangar 3) and the Fortunes of War Building.
  • The bus stop is served by bus 121.
  • There are benches available on the grass and further seating inside the shelter.
  • The shelter door opens away from you (push), is light and 74cm wide.
  • There is a shallow step in the doorway after a slope across the grass and loose chippings.

Getting Around the Museum

  • There is a marked path between the car park and grass which covers most of the road towards the Military Aviation Hangar.
  • The majority of the surface throughout the grounds is tarmac, with some slight slopes in places.
  • The roads to the buildings are used by pedestrians and cars visiting the site so care must be taken.
  • There is directional signposting throughout the site.
  • Staff can be found in the hangars, shop and cafĂ© areas if assistance is required.

Picnic Area

  • There are picnic seating tables available outside the cafĂ© and shop.
  • There is step free access to the picnic tables.
  • There is not space for wheelchairs under the picnic tables.
  • There is a tarmac surface in this area.

BAC1-11

  • The BAC1-11 plane is located opposite the shop before the Civil Aviation Hangar.
  • There is stepped entry via the rear of the plane, with the exit at the front of the plane.
  • There is a tarmac surface around the plane which is uneven in places.
  • The wing is 185cm from the ground and is passed under when going to the rear.
  • The rear entrance is 56cm in width and has 13 deep clearly marked steps with handrails on both sides to access it.
  • The aisle inside the cabin is 42cm in width.
  • The front door is 71cm in width and is accessed via 11 deep clearly marked steps with handrails on both sides.

Assault Course

  • The assault course is located beyond the BAC1-11 plane towards the side of the Civil Aviation Hangar.
  • There are some picnic tables available here at the tarmac surface side the course.
  • The course has a surface of grass with bark chippings around the obstacles.

Matador

  • The Matador is located on the right as you head from the shop towards the Military Aviation Hangar.
  • There is an easy slope leading down to the entrance.
  • The doors are double, 280cm in width and are permanently held open.
  • The Matador is viewed from the entrance with a roadblock style barrier preventing entry.
  • There is signage available here.
  • The roadblock barbed wire is imitation and made of twine.

Green Goddess

  • The Green Goddess is located on the left as you head from the shop towards the Military Aviation Hangar (opposite the Matador).
  • There is an easy slope leading down to the entrance.
  • The doors are double, 282cm in width and permanently held open.
  • The Green Goddess is viewed from the entrance with a roadblock style barrier preventing entry.
  • There is signage available here.
  • The roadblock barbed wire has been cut to make it safe.

Comet

  • The Comet is located adjacent to the Airfield Explorer drop off at Hangar 1 (Education Centre area).
  • There is stepped entry on either side of the plane with a larger door and lower steps at the rear.
  • There is information signage available at ground level.
  • The front door is 60cm in width and 120cm high only. It is accessed via 14 deep clearly marked steps with handrails on both sides.
  • The cabin aisle width is 40cm.
  • The rear entrance is 75cm in width and 120cm high only. It is accessed via 14 deep steps with handrails on both sides.

Vulcan

  • The Vulcan is located opposite the Comet near the rear of the Military Aviation Hangar.
  • There is signposted information at the front of the plane.
  • Access around the plane is slightly uneven in places with some loose chippings and grassy surfaces.
