Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • The LSE campus is located in central London, off Kingsway (A4200) and the Aldwych (A4).
    • This campus does not have its own car park, but Blue Badge and standard on-street parking is available nearby.
  • By Bus View
    • The campus can be accessed via a number of London Bus routes, including bus 1 (New Oxford Street to Canada Water Bus Station), 59 (Streatham Hill to Kings Cross Station), 68 (West Norwood to Euston Bus Station), X68 (Croydon to Russell Square), 91 (Crouch End to Trafalgar Square), 168 (Royal Free Hospital to Old Kent Road), 171 (Catford to Holborn Station), 188 (North Greenwich Station to Russell Square Station) 243 (Wood Green to Waterloo Station) and 521 (Waterloo Station to London Bridge Station).
  • By Train View
    • The nearest railway station is Charing Cross. However, all of the London Terminal stations are within reach of the campus using public transport.
  • By Underground View
    • The nearest tube stations are Holborn on the Central and Piccadilly lines, Temple on the District and Circle lines, and Charing Cross on the Northern and Bakerloo lines.

Building Parking

  • The building does not have its own dedicated parking.

Outside Access

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located at the front of the building.
    • There is step free access at this entrance.
    • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance.
    • The main door(s) open(s) automatically (towards you).
    • The door(s) is / are single.
    • The width of the door opening is 98cm (3ft 3in).
  • Comments View
    • A key card with the relevant permission is required to operate the automatic door.
    • Visitors can use the push pad to alert reception to open the door for entry and exit, the pad is 78cm high.
    • There are 2 sets of heavy manual revolving doors to the left of the accessible door.
    • Pankhurst and Fawcett Houses share the same entrance.
    • Pankhurst House is to the right as you enter (as shown in photograph 4).
    • Fawcett House is to the left of the reception as you enter (as shown in photograph 5).
    • There are security barriers, 48cm wide, operated by key card with a height of 88cm and an accessible security barrier, 92cm wide, operated by reception staff to gain access to both buildings.
    • The reception is staffed 24 hours a day.

Reception (Building Reception)

Getting Around

  • Access View

    • There is a slight slope, with no handrails, for access to the lift lobby on the ground floor.
    • This level change is shown in photographs 1 and 2. There is a similar slight ramp, 140cm wide, located on the corridor leading off the far end of the lift lobby. This leads to the stairs and the fire fighters lift (shown in photograph 3).
    • There is a slight slope, with no handrails, for access to the corridor to your right as you exit the lifts.
    • There are identical level changes in the same location from the first floor upwards. This level change is shown in photographs 4 and 5.
    • There is a slight slope, with no handrails, for access to the computer rooms on the fourth floor.
    • This level change is shown in photographs 6 and 7.
    • There are doors in corridors which have to be opened manually.
  • Getting Around View
    • There is clear signage for building facilities/areas in the foyer/reception area.
    • There is clearly written and pictorial directional signage at key points of circulation routes.
    • There is some flooring in corridors which is shiny and could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people.

Entrance (Entrance To Pankhurst House)

    • This information is for the entrance located on the first floor, on the far left hand side of the building from the lifts.
    • There is step free access at this entrance.
    • There is one set of manual, double doors, which may be difficult to open between the lift lobby and this entrance.
    • The main door(s) open(s) away from you (push).

    • The door(s) may be difficult to open.
    • The width of the door opening is 130cm (4ft 3in).

Reception (Disability and Wellbeing Service)

  • The Disability and Wellbeing Service is located on the third floor, to the right as you exit the lift.

  • Clear signage for the reception area is visible from the lift.
  • There is ramped access to this reception area.
  • The lighting levels in the reception area are good.

    • Although officially located in Tower Three, this service is accessed from the third floor of Tower Two.
    • There are double, push pad operated automatic doors, 124cm wide, at the entrance to the service, with an easy ramp, 140cm wide, just inside.
    • This area contains individual consultation rooms. One of the rooms has a flashing smoke detector.

Student Counselling and Wellbeing Services

  • Although officially located in Tower Three, these services are accessed from the fourth floor of Tower Two, to the right as you exit the lift.
  • There are double, push pad operated automatic doors, 124cm wide, at the entrance to the services, with an easy ramp, 140cm wide just inside.
  • At the time of the survey (June 2017), the services had just relocated and were still in the process of setting up.
  • There will be a reception and individual consultation rooms available.
  • A portable hearing loop is also available.

Level Change (Access to Music Studio)

  • There is a/are step(s) to access this area/service.
  • The step(s) is/are located to the right as you exit the stairwell on the twelfth floor.
  • There is/are 1 step(s) to the area/service.
  • The lighting levels at the step(s) are medium.
  • The step(s) is/are not clearly marked.
  • The step(s) is/are deep (18cm+).
  • There is not a/are not handrail(s) at the step(s).
  • Comments View
    • This step provides access to a short walkway to the music studio on the twelfth floor.
    • There is then a single, heavy door with an opening width of 54cm.

Standard Shower
