  • The Commercial Arcade is situated just off the High Street in St Peter Port Guernsey and runs a loop between two section of the High Street and is close to the main harbour for ferries to the Mainland UK and France.
  • The main airport is located to the south west of St Peter Port, approximately 3.5miles away.
  • The nearest bus stop is at the Bus Station/Town Terminus, which is next to Castle Pier. This is approximately 450 metres from the High Street.
  • Taxis are available from the Town Taxi rank.
  • The Commercial Arcade is pedestrianised only.
  • The length of the route is roughly 180 metres.

Parking

  • There are several Blue Badge parking bays at the bottom of the High Street in Church Square. The parking bays are located by Mountain Warehouse and Healthspan.
  • Parking is free for Blue Badge holders displaying a valid Blue Badge.
  • Public Car Parks (1*)
  • There is a public car park on Albert Pier, approximately 160 metres from the High Street and its southern entrance with Fountain Street.

Commercial Arcade Overview

  • The Commercial Arcade is in St Peter Port Guernsey and runs in a loop from the High Street by HSBC Bank and finishes at the High Street by Pharmacy Locale, which is close to Wolverton Place.
  • The route is mainly level with some uneven sections throughout and some easy/slight slopes in parts briefly.
  • The whole route is pedestrianised and is a mixture of block paving and concrete with some raised manhole covers and rain galleys throughout.

  • The lighting along the High Street is mostly modern bright white lighting attached to the buildings on both sides.

Junction - High Street HSBC and Commercial Arcade

  • This junction is located by HSBC on the High Street and has level access to the High Street from the pedestrianised Commercial Arcade.
  • There are no dropped kerbs to reach the opposite side of the High street.
  • The pathway becomes a steep uphill slope as you turn left into the High Street from the Commercial Arcade and is a steep downhill slope if you turn right into the High Street from the Commercial Arcade.
  • The pathway is uneven in parts and is a mixture of block paving and concrete.

Commercial Arcade Loop From High Street HSBC to High Street Pharmacy Locale

  • The Commercial Arcade starts at the High Street by HSBC and Mappin & Webb and ends at the High Street by Pharmacy Locale and Jewellery Store.
  • The pathway covers the whole area as this is a pedestrianised area.
  • The pathway is mainly block paving and concrete throughout.
  • The pathway is over 150cm and the pathway has some uneven sections throughout. Many of the pathways have a rain gulley in the centre.
  • The pathway does have some easy/slight slopes along its course, but these are very marginal and most of the route is level.
  • There is a stepped exit to the High Street by Manzur Hairdressers. There are 10 deep, unmarked steps with a handrail on the left going up. There is an easy slope after the steps leading to the High Street opposite Mountain Warehouse
  • The length of the route is roughly 180 metres.

Junction-Commercial Arcade and High Street Pharmacy Locale

  • This junction is located by Pharmacy Locale on the High Street, next to the approach for Wolverton Place. There is level access to the High Street from the pedestrianised Commercial Arcade
  • There are no dropped kerbs to reach the opposite side of the High street.
  • The pathway becomes a steep downhill slope as you turn left into the High Street from the Commercial Arcade.
  • The pathway is uneven in parts and is a mixture of block paving and concrete.
