Welcome

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) is a major acute trust serving the people of Wigan and Leigh. Innovative and forward thinking, the Trust is dedicated to providing safe quality healthcare for the local population of over 300,000 in the Wigan Borough and surrounding areas. Over £200 million is spent each year on a diverse range of reputable general hospital and specialist acute services.

The Trust has three hospital sites, the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan, Leigh Infirmary and Wrightington Hospital which is a leading centre for orthopaedic excellence and where hip replacements were pioneered in the early 1960s. The Trust also operates the Thomas Linacre Centre, a state-of-the-art outpatient’s centre in Wigan town centre. WWL became a Foundation Trust on 1st December 2008 and so is now responsible to the local population through its membership.

The Care Quality Commission reported the Trust’s annual performance rating for 2008/2009 as ‘Good’ for both ‘Quality of Services’ and ‘Quality of Financial Management’.

The Trust is delighted to collaborate with DisabledGo to provide a disabled access guide to healthcare services across its facilities.
