Welcome

As part of delivering the Disability Equality Scheme, one of Waltham Forest Council’s main priorities is to promote cultivating civic participation, cohesion and independent living so that everyone feels they belong. In response to issues raised by disabled residents, the Council is committed to providing an information guide which enables disabled people to get out and about more easily.

The guide will include information on the accessibility of over 1000 local venues such as restaurants, shops, sports facilities, public buildings and tourist attractions, giving disabled people more choices and more freedom to live independently. The guide will also be useful to carers, family and friends, as well as parents with children and older people.

Waltham Forest is proud to be a host borough for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and we look forward to hosting the Paralympic tennis at Eton Manor, our part of the Olympic site. As well as being valuable to residents, the guide will be equally useful for the many visitors to the borough before, during and after the Olympic and Paralympic Games. We hope you will find this guide useful and it helps improve access to all that Waltham Forest has to offer for residents and visitors alike.

Cllr Chris Robbins, Leader of Waltham Forest Council.
