University of Salford

Welcome

The University of Salford has a rich history stretching back to 1896. We are extremely proud of our roots but also focussed firmly on our very bright future.

In 2011, in a major new development at MediaCityUK on Salford Quays, a short distance from the campus, we’ll be joining five major BBC departments.

With 100,000 square feet of space filled with state-of-the-art technology beside the BBC buildings, we will be creating job opportunities with the BBC and other tenants for graduates, benefitting business and the local community.

In the area of research we are looking forward too. 83% of our research was judged of international class by the Government’s latest Research Assessment Exercise. What’s more, 12% was judged to be world-leading – at the very cutting edge of research activity.

At Salford we take accessibility seriously. We have £500,000 designated specifically for accessibility work over the next two years. This work is being informed and directed through close consultation with our disabled staff and student networks and we greatly benefit from their support, guidance and challenges as we strive for better accessibility for all.

Accessibility lies at the heart of all our services for students and staff as well as our design plans, reflected in our £50 million ‘Master Plan’ to modernise our main campus, including teaching & learning, administrative and social spaces.

Our well established, pro-active disability service delivers our commitment to supporting disabled home and international students and we are proud that increasing numbers of disabled students choose to study at Salford.

We have recently reviewed our Disability Equality Scheme, as part of our development of Single Equality Scheme and we are committed to delivering the best possible experience for all disabled students, staff, visitors and partners.
