Welcome

The Children Education and Families Directorate of Thurrock Council is delighted to be working in conjunction with DisabledGo to give parents and carers accurate information about the suitability of all schools for disabled children and young people.

We are totally committed to providing inclusive education and ensuring that all children and young people have what they need to access learning.

This includes changes to school buildings and any necessary resources which help to overcome barriers.

Thurrock has currently 43 Primary Schools made up of 6 Infant, 6 Junior and 31 Primary, 10 Secondary schools one of which is an Academy and 2 Special Schools.

All mainstream schools are able to meet a range of special educational needs and in addition some have a resource base for pupils with specific needs.

Access to these bases are through the Local Authority.

Our two Special Schools are designed to meet the needs of children and young people with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties and those on the autistic spectrum.
