Welcome

Thurrock Council, in partnership with DisabledGo, is committed to giving disabled people of all ages, as well as their family, friends, colleagues and carers, the confidence and freedom to make informed decisions and be part of their community.

This international online access guide is available free of charge and is used by over 110,000 people each month.

The guide gives information on accessibility into buildings and venues across the borough - chosen by the local community for the local community and visitors.

Cllr Amanda Arnold, Thurrock Council’s portfolio holder for Disability Services, said: “This website is about giving disabled people the freedom to make informed decisions, as well as be part of their community.

“We have worked hard to transform services to ensure that vulnerable people have a good quality of life, and DisabledGo will enable residents to decide which shops and services they access, with confidence.”

Gareth Davies, Chair of Thurrock Disability Network, added: “Thurrock Disability Network is striving to give disabled and older people a real voice in decision making in Thurrock. Part of this involves increasing the amount of information available to them.

“We welcome this initiative as one which will assist disabled and older people to find out more about the accessibility of ordinary venues in Thurrock and thus take a fuller part in the life of their borough.”
