The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London (CONEL) is a large further education college located in the London Borough of Haringey. CONEL is the only FE college in the borough, and recruits most of its learners from Haringey, Hackney and Enfield. There are currently around 15,000 students enrolled at CONEL, and more than 200 courses run every year at all levels.
The College’s broad range of activities covers ten sector subject areas, with a strong focus on vocational specialisms. CONEL is dedicated to giving the best possible education and training to all its learners, no matter what they have achieved before. Students at CONEL have access to excellent teaching and first-class facilities.
The college also offers a wide range of courses at satellite venues based in the heart of the community, offering key skills training - especially Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
CONEL has a thriving partnership with local secondary schools in Haringey, Enfield and Waltham Forest to provide programmes for learners aged 14 to 16. The college also has increasingly strong links with employers. It is constantly developing its work-based learning offerings in partnership with employers, trade unions and local authorities. CONEL leads the North London Train to Gain Consortium.
Despite a historically low level of attainment among local school-leavers, CONEL has a 92% achievement rate (2006-07), which places it in the top ten percent of the highest-achieving colleges in the whole country.
