Southwark College is a major Further Education College. Our mission is to inspire learners and achieve excellence – tackling discrimination and promoting equality are central to the achievement of this mission.
We recognise that we have a key role to play in working with and for disabled people to ensure that truly accessible educational opportunities are offered that create pathways to employment and full participation in society. We are fully aware of the challenges that disabled people face and by working to break down barriers to participation and opportunity we aim to be part of the solution.
As part of the Colleges property strategy we will be refurbishing/redeveloping significant parts of the College estate and as part of this we will ensure that we provide full accessibility to all. However, until that project is concluded we recognise that it is important that existing and potential students and staff are aware of how accessible current facilities are and believe that working with DisabledGo to undertake and publish an audit of accessibility is one way to convey this vital information to these groups.
