Welcome

New College Durham

A great place to learn

New College Durham is one of the leading colleges of further and higher education in the North East and is committed to promoting disability equality and creating a college environment that welcomes, values and builds on diversity and difference.

We are in the top 10% of colleges nationally for our further education performance and success rates, plus our student achievements and retention rates are among the best in the country. Our support for learners is outstanding with 94% of students who join courses at the College completing their studies.

In our recent Ofsted inspection (June 2009) we obtained a clean sweep of five Grade 1 (outstanding) judgements. This outstanding performance also resulted in the College receiving recognition of its excellence and innovation by being awarded the prestigious ‘Beacon College’ status by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) in March 2010.

Our higher education students have an excellent reputation for achievement with 90% successful in completing their studies in 2006/07. A review of our higher education provision by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in 2006/07 expressed confidence in the academic standards and quality of learning opportunities at the College, which is the highest judgement available.

We are delighted to be working in partnership with award-winning disability organisation, DisabledGo, to help disabled people access our impressive campus facilities and excellent education opportunities.
