Welcome

Foreword by Councillor Linda Reason. Portfolio Holder for Health and Adult Social Care in Barking and Dagenham

Welcome to our new free online facility produced in partnership with DisabledGo. About 15% of local people in Barking and Dagenham have a physical or sensory disability of some description. We want to make sure that all of our residents and visitors can enjoy what the borough has to offer. We hope that this online guide will bring increased choice and freedom not only to disabled people, but will also help carers, families and friends.

This website enables disabled people to judge for themselves through a few clicks of a mouse whether the buildings they plan to visit are accessible to their needs. Surveys have been done by local disabled people who have visited all the buildings to help produce this guide. We hope it provides you with the information you need to access the public buildings and open spaces in Barking and Dagenham.

About the website

This online access guide provides information about around 1,000 venues across Barking and Dagenham including shops, restaurants, pubs leisure facilities, local council offices and other public venues. Visitors to this website will be able to find out quickly whether a public building has, for example, accessible parking close by, staff trained in sign language, large print materials available, or adapted toilets.
