Welcome

Foreword by the Chief Minister of Guernsey, Deputy Lyndon Trott

I am delighted to introduce this comprehensive online access guide to Guernsey.
Guernsey has much to offer islanders and visitors alike – stunning outdoor scenery, from rugged cliffs to sandy beaches; historical sites, from ancient stone monuments to World War II bunkers; galleries, restaurants and a bustling Town centre. I trust that the DisabledGo guide to Guernsey will help to unlock some of these treasures to a much wider range of people.
Good, clear information on accessibility enables people to plan their journeys in advance, and to know that they will be able to move around with dignity and without discomfort. This Access Guide has been a major step forward for our community, providing a great resource covering local venues for many aspects of Island life, and helpful information on local businesses.
DisabledGo have been working in Guernsey with the support of the Policy Council, the Culture and Leisure Department and the Commerce and Employment Department, as well as with the help of three local surveyors. I would like to thank DisabledGo and their committed team for the excellent work they have done and to acknowledge the willing participation of many local businesses, services and retailers.
I would also like to thank disabled Islanders and the Guernsey Disability Alliance for providing suggestions for venues and championing the development of a Guernsey Access Guide.
The Access Guide can be used in conjunction with the States of Guernsey website www.gov.gg and the Tourism site, VisitGuernsey.com, to discover even more of what Guernsey has to offer. Whether you are an Island resident or a visitor, I trust that you will find the DisabledGo Access Guide to Guernsey of great value in accessing, exploring and enjoying our community.
