Welcome

Foreword by Councillor Richard Grosvenor, Leader of East Staffordshire Borough Council.

East Staffordshire Borough Council has been working in partnership with DisabledGo for nine years, and through this partnership we aim to give everyone living, working and visiting East Staffordshire access to the detailed information they need to choose the services that suit them best. This guide covers a huge range of venues from shops to restaurants, post offices to leisure centres.

Located in the Heart of England, East Staffordshire is proud of its position as capital of the National Forest. We have a rich history with links to Mary Queen of Scots, Robert Peel and Henry Ferrers the Norman landowner and founder of a Priory at Tutbury Castle. Burton upon Trent is probably best known as the home of the great brewing companies such as Bass and Marston’s and the much loved (by some) product made from brewer’s yeast, Marmite. We will also shortly be welcoming the new FA centre at St George’s Park, due to open in 2012.

We hope that this guide will enable anyone living in and visiting our area to find information about the facilities they need. I hope that you enjoy the time you spend in East Staffordshire.
