Welcome

Foreword by Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Equalities and Diversity, Councillor Ride

Chelmsford Borough Council is delighted to be working in partnership with DisabledGo to provide this important information to disabled residents and visitors, and we hope that Chelmsford being listed on their website will encourage even more businesses in our borough to make their premises as accessible as possible.

The Council is committed to making sure the town is welcoming to everyone in the community and to visitors, and is confident that Chelmsford's inclusion on the DisabledGo website will ensure disabled people can have the confidence to choose Chelmsford to enjoy the shops, restaurants and leisure facilities that are on offer. Although this service is primarily aimed at disabled people, anyone visiting Chelmsford can make use of the site to make the most of their visit.

The DisabledGo project is empowering disabled people to get out and do what they want to do in their own community, and in other areas they would like to visit. The website, which is free to use, provides accurate access information which enables disabled people to decide which venues will be accessible for them. For example, you can search on the website for a bank that has a hearing loop or a restaurant with large print menus.
