Arun is a beautiful and diverse district of sea-side towns and rural villages. It has places steeped in history and heritage alongside areas of outstanding natural beauty. Arun District Council is committed to making it easier for everyone, especially for disabled people, to enjoy everything the area has to offer.
DisabledGo has helped us meet this commitment and we are delighted to have worked with them on this web-based access guide. We hope it will liberate disabled people, their families, assistants and friends and empower everyone to enjoy living in, working in or visiting Arun.
By providing detailed and accurate information about venues across the district to a standardised format, disabled people will be using a system that they know is accurate, that uses familiar standards and that they feel comfortable navigating. This is what makes DisabledGo such a valuable contribution to the lives of disabled people.
The DisabledGo project has provided the District Council with an opportunity to develop a service which we believe has the potential to start to tackle the feelings of isolation and exclusion so often experienced by disabled people. At the same time it will assist local service, business and tourism providers to reach out to thousands of new customers.
