Disabled Access Guide for Newent House

Introduction

Newent House houses the Newent Resource Centre, The Newent Day Centre & The Newent Residential Home.

The Residential Home houses 35 people.

There are three bedrooms for people on respite and all bedrooms are single.

The home is staffed 24 hours a day by assistant managers and care officers including a full-time Activities Officer, who organises a range of activities and outings.

There are a full range of support services, including cooking, cleaning and laundry.

Residents are fully encouraged to live an independent life, with visitors always welcome.

Several residents visit local shops or are members of local clubs, and can go further afield if they wish to.

All referrals for permanent and respite places are carried out through a care manager.

The Day Centre provides personal care during the day, various activities and outings, as well as bathing, access to district nurses and an on-site hairdresser.

A three-course meal is provided at lunch time as are tea and biscuits and cold refreshments - there is also a private bar for their use.

A wide range of packages are catered for, being based on the individual needs of each service user. These are worked out with the client, the relevant care manager, families and staff. All referrals to the service come through a care manager.

Location

The venue is situated outside the centre of the town or city.
