Access Challenge

I am trying to find

The NUS Disabled Students' Campaign is excited to be working in partnership with DisabledGo and Attitude is Everything (AiE) on our campaign Access Challenge. The campaign aims to promote the access available at student unions and to encourage them to become more accessible. The project has two parts:

  • DisabledGo have a team of surveyors who assess access at unions around the country. From their survey an access guide is produced which will be available on this website. The guide will enable students to check facilities before accessing their union or visiting another. It will also enable each union's student officers to identify areas for improvement.
  • AiE will be asking each union to sign up to the AiE Charter. The Charter is an outward sign that your union is serious about accessibility.

We hope this campaign will provide unions with the knowledge and tools to take real responsibility for access and improvements at their union. Access Challenge will launch at NUS Disabled Students' Conference 2011. Student unions will be given one year to compete with each other to become as accessible as they can be and the union which has gone to 'best effort' will receive a National NUS Award at Disabled Students' Conference 2012.
