  • By Road View
    • The LSE campus is located in central London, off Kingsway (A4200) and the Aldwych (A4).
    • This campus does not have its own car park, but Blue Badge and standard on-street parking is available nearby.
  • By Bus View
    • The campus can be accessed via a number of London Bus routes, including bus 1 (New Oxford Street to Canada Water Bus Station), 59 (Streatham Hill to Kings Cross Station), 68 (West Norwood to Euston Bus Station), X68 (Croydon to Russell Square), 91 (Crouch End to Trafalgar Square), 168 (Royal Free Hospital to Old Kent Road), 171 (Catford to Holborn Station), 188 (North Greenwich Station to Russell Square Station) 243 (Wood Green to Waterloo Station) and 521 (Waterloo Station to London Bridge Station).
  • By Train View
    • The nearest railway station is Charing Cross. However, all of the London Terminal stations are within reach of the campus using public transport.

    • The nearest tube stations are Holborn on the Central and Piccadilly lines, Temple on the District and Circle lines, and Charing Cross on the Northern and Bakerloo lines.

Building Parking

Outside Access

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located on Clement's Inn.
    • There is step free access at this entrance.
    • There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance.

Access from The Strand along Clement's Inn

  • There is a pedestrian gate, 107cm wide, leading off The Strand (photograph 1).
  • This gate is open 06:00 - 22:00 Monday - Friday, and 10:00 - 18:00 at weekends.
  • There is an intercom at a height of 134cm here.
  • A bollarded path, 105cm wide at its narrowest, leads from the gate up the easy slope along Clement's Inn and around to the entrance to Pethick - Lawrence House.

  • The Building Reception is located to the right as you enter the building.
  • The desk is 5m (5yd 1ft) from the main entrance.
  • The reception area is clearly visible from the entrance.

  • There is a low section of the counter (76cm or below) available.
  • There is not a clear knee recess beneath the low/lowered counter.

    • Seating is available in the reception foyer.
    • At the time of the survey (August 2020), the reception had a screen in place and markings on the floor for visitors to stand behind.

Getting Around

  • Access View
    • There is step free access throughout the building via lift(s).
    • There is a slight slope, with no handrails, for access to the stairs and fire fighting lift from the reception area.
    • The width of the ramp is 136cm (4ft 6in).
    • This ramp is shown in photograph 1.
    • There is a slight ramp, with a handrail on the left going up, for access to the main corridor.
    • This level change is found in the same location from the first floor upwards. It is located to the left as you exit the lifts. It provides access to the main corridor. This level change can be seen in photographs 2 and 3.
    • There are doors in corridors which have to be opened manually.
  • Getting Around View
    • There is clear signage for building facilities/areas in the foyer/reception area.
    • There is clearly written and pictorial directional signage at key points of circulation routes.
    • There is some flooring in corridors which is shiny and could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people.
    • There is good colour contrast between the walls and floor in all corridors.

    • The floors which are accessible by stairs are G, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
    • The stairs are located to the rear of the building, on the left past reception.
    • The stairs are approximately 20m from the main entrance.
    • There are 15+ steps between floors.
    • There are manual, double doors which may be difficult to open to access the stairwell on all floors.
    • The lighting levels are moderate to good.
    • The steps are clearly marked.
    • The steps are medium height (11cm - 17cm).

    • The steps on the staircase on the ground floor and first floor are carpet. Then the steps from the second floor upwards is concrete, clearly marked medium steps.
