Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • London City Airport is located in East London, in the Royal Docks, off the A1020.
    • London City Airport offers 30 minutes of free parking to Blue Badge holders, please follow signs to the Pick Up Area. If you are being dropped off by car, a convenient place to do so is the Drop Off Area in front of the Terminal building. London City Airport has an Onsite Car Park

    • There is a bus stop within 150 metres of the venue.
    • There are bus stops directly next to the airport, Step-free wheelchair access is available on the buses serving the airport.

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • There is not an assistance dog toilet or toileting area at the venue/nearby.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.
  • There are mobility aids available.
  • The mobility aids available include wheelchairs.
  • To obtain mobility aids please contact from the information desk in the main concourse or by contacting any of the PRM (Special Assistance) staff.
  • Passengers requiring assistance will be taken to aircraft using lifts to access the apron, buses to access the far gates, and stair climbers to access the aircraft. Passengers requiring assisted access are collected from the Priority Seating in the Departures Lounge by PRM staff. There are also wheelchairs available to help PRM staff assist passengers.

Terminal Building

Boarding Card Checking Area

  • The Boarding Card Checking Area is 10 metres from the lift.
  • A member of staff will always be on duty here to check boarding cards and open the gate if required.
  • The accessible gate, by the staffed counter, shown in photograph 2, is 92cm wide.
  • The height of the staffed counter is 120cm.
  • There is not a hearing assistance system at the counter.
  • Standard gates with automatic boarding card readers are 55cm wide.

Leading to Security Check Area

  • Through the Boarding Card Checking Gates is a preparation area before the Security Check Area.
  • At busy times a queuing system may be in operation.
  • Passengers requiring assistance will be guided through to bypass the queue.
  • There are passenger preparation points in the area leading to the Security Check Area.
  • This is where passengers can dispose of items not allowed past the security area, such as water bottles and sharp objects, and place liquids and gels in a clear plastic bag, as directed.
  • These points contain surfaces 85cm high.

Security Check Area

  • The Security Check Area is approximately 30 metres from the Boarding Card Checking Area.
  • There is a queuing system for entry to the Security Check Area.
  • Passengers who require assistance will be led through to bypass this queue.
  • The security check barriers are 70cm wide.
  • Beside the barrier is a gate, 90cm wide, which can be opened for wheelchair users (shown in photograph 3).
  • If security staff need to search the bag of a wheelchair user, they do so in the presence of the passenger at a desk at the end of the security area, which is low level (shown in photograph 4).

Exit to the Departure Lounge

  • There are several exits at the rear of the security area.
  • They have no doors and are 135cm wide.
  • The exit most likely to be used by assisted passengers is 15 metres from the gate at the Security Check Area.

Departures Lounge
